Job Description

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to determine tile cutting requirements
  • Use tile cutting machines, hand tools, and wet saws to cut tiles to specific shapes and sizes
  • Ensure clean, precise cuts to maintain quality and aesthetics
  • Prepare tiles for installation by smoothing edges or trimming as necessary
  • Coordinate with tile installers or masons to ensure proper placement and fit
  • Maintain and clean cutting tools and machines regularly
  • Follow safety procedures and use protective gear when operating cutting equipment
  • Manage tile inventory and reduce waste by optimizing tile usage
  • Report any material shortages or damaged tiles to the supervisor

Qualifications/Requirements

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
  • Previous experience as tile cutter
Skills:
  • Skill in reading tape measures and transferring exact dimensions onto tiles is crucial.
  • Apply consistent pressure when scoring to avoid uneven cuts.
  • Understanding how to cut ceramic, porcelain, glass, and natural stone differently (they each have unique cutting characteristics).
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
