Job Description

The Tax Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the company and its stores comply with all tax regulations set by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and other relevant government agencies. This role involves preparing and filing tax returns, monitoring tax obligations, ensuring store compliance with tax laws, and providing guidance on tax-related matters to minimize risks and avoid penalties.

TAX COMPLIANCE & REPORTING 
  • Prepare, review, and file tax returns (e.g., VAT, income tax, withholding tax, percentage tax) on time.
  • Monitor and ensure timely payment of taxes and submission of required reports.
  • Maintain proper documentation of all tax-related records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Ensure all company stores comply with BIR tax regulations, including proper registration, invoicing, and filing requirements.
STORE TAX COMPLIANCE & MONITORING 
  • Conduct regular compliance checks on stores to ensure they follow proper tax documentation and reporting procedures.
  • Verify that stores issue sales invoices as per BIR requirements.
  • Assist stores in resolving tax-related issues and discrepancies. – Ensure accurate recording and reporting of sales transactions for tax purposes.
TAX PLANNING & ADVISORY 
  • Provide advice on tax compliance and optimization strategies to ensure tax efficiency.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on business operations.
  • Assist in implementing tax strategies to minimize liabilities and avoid penalties.
AUDIT & RECONCILIATION 
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies during tax audits and assessments. – Perform tax account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
  • Prepare supporting documents and respond to BIR inquiries, tax assessments, and other tax-related issues.
PROCESS IMPROVEMENT 
  • Develop and improve tax compliance processes and internal controls.
  • Conduct periodic tax compliance reviews and risk assessments to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Provide training and updates to employees regarding tax compliance policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA designation preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in tax compliance, preferably with experience in retail or multistore operations in the Philippines.
  • Strong knowledge of Philippine tax laws, BIR compliance requirements, and store-related tax obligations.
  • Proficiency in tax software and financial management systems (e.g., eFPS, eBIRForms, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
