A Nurse Specialist, also known as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who provides expert care, advice, and education to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals within a specialized area of nursing. They combine direct patient care with leadership, consultation, and system-level improvement efforts.
Provide direct patient care, serve as expert consultants for nursing staffs and take an active role in improving health care delivery systems. Clinical nurse specialists often work in management positions and may also develop or work with a team to develop policies and procedures.
