Job Description

The Fitter has the following responsibilities:
• Assist the engineers in equipment overhauls and various vessel operations (bunkering, maneuvering procedures in arrivals/departures etc.) as instructed. Report any breakdown, failure or deviation to the Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer
• Carry out steel works including hot works (welding, cutting, brazing), fabrication work using power tools and cold overhauls for both the deck and engine room. His supervision and management will remain under the Chief Engineer (Engine Room)
• Check stock of machinery spare parts to ensure that the minimum requirements is always adhered to.
• Assist with various security-related duties, as required, under the supervision of the SSO
• Ensure chemicals are used safely and as per Safety Data Sheet instructions
• Ensure work and rest hour planning is done regularly and requirements are complied with. Bring any challenges in rest hour compliance to the attention of the Second Engineer and/or Chief Engineer
• At all times, ensure good housekeeping, cleanliness and tidiness in the Engine Room and designated areas as directed by the Chief Engineer or Second Engineer.

Qualifications/Requirements

With at least 12 Months Sea Time experience in International Ships
