1. Assists in the implementation of research projects related to the care of in-patients of the Institute.
2. Performs patient care services both to research and non-research patients.
- Observe physiological changes in the patient’s condition and report immediately such changes to staff nurses/head nurses.
- Provides/assists patients with activities related to maintaining and promoting comfort and personal hygiene. Includes bed bath, tepid sponge bath, oral care and bed making.
- Turns position bedridden patients to prevent bedsores and pneumonia.
- Serves and assists patients during meals.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs such as TPR & BP.
- Assist in the collection of specimens – urine and stool.
- Assist physician during special procedure e.g. lumbar Tap.
- Assist patients with elimination as in serving and emptying of bedpans and urinals.
3. Assist nurse in monitoring intake output.
4. Helps transport patients to and from the nursing unit.
5. Assist in the promotion and maintenance of an environment suitable to optimum care of patients.
- Collects trays and cleans patients’ bedside after each meal.
- Brings linen to and from laundry. Coordinate closely with the Laundry Section for monitoring of linen to avoid losses.
- Assist in making supplies such as cotton balls, O.S., etc.
- Cleans disinfects, and sterilizes medical supplies and equipment needed for patient care.
- Cleans workroom. Linen closets, medication cabinets, etc.
