Job Description

  • Radiologic technologists specialize in x-ray and computed tomography (CT) imaging. Radiologic technologists, also known as radiographers, perform x rays and other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients. MRI technologists operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to create diagnostic images.
  • Operating X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRIs, and other imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images. 
  • Follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging
  • Correctly position the patient, adjust the imaging equipment to the specified position
  • Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in radiologic technology usually takes four years to complete and may open doors to more specialized roles.
  • Proficiency in operating various imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI machines, is crucial. 
  • A thorough understanding of radiation safety protocols and how to minimize radiation exposure to patients and themselves is necessary. 
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification is often required. 
  • Radiologic technologists need to be able to troubleshoot equipment issues and adjust techniques to obtain optimal images
