Performs diagnostic radiological services, such as, but not limited to the following:
1.1. Operate imaging equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
1.2. Position patients and provide immobilization as necessary.
1.3. Determine/calculate exposure factors, process films, and evaluate radiographs for technical quality.
1.4. Practice/apply radiation protection.
1.5. Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures.
1.6. Assist physician with imaging procedures and administration of contrast media.
2. Maintains patient record as appropriate.
3. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and proper care/maintenance of equipment and accessories.
4. Provides input for equipment and supply purchase decisions.
5. Assumes responsibility for portions of the quality assurance program.
6. In the absence of a supervisor, assume acting supervisory responsibility.
7. Pursue ongoing continuing education.
8. Receives request for radiological examination for in and out patients.
9. Provides the patient with proper instruction and necessary preparation for the examination, particularly special examinations.
10. Prepares issue/ charge ticket and make certain that the patient is properly billed in accordance with established policies/procedures for billing and charging.
11. Prepares patient card marker with necessary data (e.g. name. birth date, sex, referring physician, type of examination, pertinent medical history, etc.)
12. Maintains an orderly logbook for in and out patients for easy reference of examinations performed.
12.1. Answer telephone calls and receive instructions from attending physicians.
12.2. Inform the chief – radiologic technologist for OR, ER, ICU, floor calls, or any emergency examination that require immediate attention by the technical staff.
13. Maintains an orderly system of prioritizing/sequencing patients’ examinations on a “first come, first serve basis” for out-patients, and see to it that in-patients are attended to as soon as they are brought to the department.
14. Prepares reports on daily income and number of procedures performed.
15. Perform related work and all other duties as may be assigned by the department head or supervisor.
