1. Counterchecks the medication order carried out by the charge nurse and affixes
his/her signature after the charge nurse signature. For any clarification he/she
verifies with the physician who ordered the medication.
2. Does the requisition of all ordered medications.
3. Prepares oral drugs, suspensions/syrups, ointments, creams, nebules, nasal
preparation, eye and ear drops.
4. Receives medicines deposits from prescribed patients. And returns any
discontinued, shifted, or unused medicines.
5. Charges services fee based on guidelines.
6. Checks insulin prepared by the staff nurse.
7. Provides discharge instructions to patients for take home medications.
8. Collects any remaining medicines from staff nurses.
9. Issues “consent of waiver for bedside medications”.
10. Coordinates with the clinical instructor of students/interns.
11. Coordinates with resident physician, charge nurses and staff nurses for any
inquiries or problems that may arise.
