  • Prepares surfaces for smooth finish before application of paints (i.e. wood, masonry, metal, exterior walls, interior walls)
  • Knows and can apply the proper fillers for any type of surfaces such as wood, metal, masonry etc. producing smooth finish in preparation for application of primer coats
  • Knows the proper primer for different types of materials such as wood, metal, masonry surfaces
  • Applies finish paints with a roller, producing smooth and even surfaces
  • Applies finish paints with a spray applicator producing smooth grade finishes
  • Calculates quantity of required materials based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
  • Mixes and matches colors of any type of paint, stains, varnish etc and understands the use of thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
  • Understands finish products, application and compatibility among different typs of products such as latex, varnish, lacquer, enamels,poly urethanes etc.
  • Polishes final coats to specified finishes
  • Covers surfaces with dropcloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Removes old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, application of paint removers etc.
  • Smooths surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, and/or sanding machines.
  • Cut stencils; brushes and sprays lettering and decorations on surfaces.
  • Erects scaffolding or set up ladders, to work above ground level
  • Uses special finishing techniques such marble, ducco, stained, hasp, textured etc.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • With minimum experience of 1 year ; TESDA Certified is an advantage
  • Knows and can apply the proper Primer and fillers for any type of surfaces such as wood, metal, masonry etc. producing smooth finish in preparation for application of primer coats
  • Knows how to calculate quantity of required materials based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
