Job Description

The Operations Manager will oversee the regular activities for the recovery, transport, and processing of post-consumer plastics across the networks of the Plastic Credit Exchange. This includes monitoring and verification of capacities to meet the requirements of offset buyers. The Operations Manager will work closely with the aggregators and processors to maintain the blockchain accurate and up to date. The Operations Lead covers activities for Asia and will be reporting to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations of accredited partners in the recovery, transport, and processing of post-consumer plastics compliant with the Plastic Pollution Reduction Standard and local regulations;
  • Provide verified inputs on impact data and communications on plastic waste diversion to the Strategic Communications Manager;
  • Supervise the uploading and maintenance of the relevant documents to blockchain;
  • Coordinate the activities of the aggregators, logistics and processing partners;
  • Monitor the capacity of processors to meet the offset requirements of PCX and closely coordinate with Sustainability Campaign Manager;
  • Conduct site and field visits as necessary to ensure smooth and efficient operations;
  • Provide strategic inputs and improving efficiencies on the conduct of post- consumer plastic recovery and processing;
  • Work with the Standards and Compliance Manager in vetting and approving prospect aggregators and processors;
  • Lead contract and pricing negotiations with suppliers, partner aggregators, logistics and processing partners;
  • Expand the network by connecting prospect institutional partners;
  • Create and implement action plans in addressing issues relating to the operations;
  • Participate and provide support in the conduct internal and external audits;
  • Support the Strategic Communications Manager in highlighting milestones and updates from the network of aggregators, logistics and processing partners;
  • Participate in the review and refinement of the Plastic Pollution Reduction Standard and other policies;

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Preferably at least five (5) years of experience directly managing operations in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience in building partnerships, and negotiations and is entrepreneurial.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and resourceful in addressing urgent and critical concerns.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in strategic planning, multi-tasking, and coordination of simultaneous activities.
  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring people and teams.
  • Has strong organizational skills and work ethic; and
  • Experience with an international environmental organization would be an advantage.
