3. Duties and Functions as Operations Manager:
1. Professionalism
• Beverley Harness must maintain a professional attitude and demeanour at all times.
• Beverley Harness shall act as an ambassador for Scotty`s and its group of companies while promoting good will and a mature, proficient professionalism to our customers, clients, business associates, the tourism industry and the general public as a whole whether on duty or off.
• Beverley Harness shall adhere to the company philosophy of excellence in customer service.
2. Dive Staff responsibilities
• Beverley Harness shall maintain active PADI membership, strictly adhering to the standards during the employment period. PADI renewal is the Dive Staff responsibility and the COMPANY should not be liable for payment of the said membership
• In case of QA resulting in a suspension and/or expulsion from PADI or SSI of Beverley Harness, the COMPANY reserves the right in its exclusive prerogative and discretion, and in accordance with the standards made known earlier may terminate the employer – employee relationship.
• It is understood and agreed between both Parties, that Beverley Harness will supply a complete, working and in good condition dive equipment for his personal use. The Company will not allow Beverley Harness to use the Company’s equipment unless special conditions and only with prior approval of the management.
• Beverley Harness must be willing to immediately renew her SSI Teaching status upon request of the company.
3. Beverley Harness Dive Instructor/Dive Leader duties
• You must make yourself available for translation and teaching in French when required.
• Due to your extended range of teaching Specialities, you must be available to teach/instruct: Wreck, Emergency Oxygen Provider, as well as all PADI AWARE Ecology programmes (Coral Reef Conservation, Dive Against Debris®, Shark Conservation Diver, PADI AWARE Specialist) in addition to the more commonly held certifications for Deep Diving, Drift, Rescue, EANX (Nitrox), Buoyancy and First Aid.
• As a certified BubbleMaker and SEAL Team Instructor you must be able to teach the full SEAL Course to 8 and 9 year olds, when required.
• Once your accreditation as a Junior DiveMaster Instructor application is approved, you must be able to teach the Dive Master Course according to the age group, when required.
• As a certified Gas Blender, you will make yourself available for the refilling of SCUBA tanks requiring enriched air.
• Your advanced knowledge and training in the maintenance and repair of SCUBA PRO regulators and BCD’s will require you to be the lead in all repairs at Scotty’s – Boracay. You will be expected to teach and guide local staff members so that they can up-skill themselves and add value to their own résumés.
• As an Advanced Instructor with nine (9)+ years as a SCUBA Instructor in different countries, you will be expected to impart your knowledge of diving environments, cultures and customs to all local staff so that they continue to up-skill themselves.
• As an Advanced Instructor with nine (9)+ years as a SCUBA Instructor in different countries, you will be expected to assist and lead the training of local staff to Dive Master level. Teaching them to PADI and/or SSI standards and sharing techniques that will further improve their craft.
4. Dive Scheduling
• Inform and co-ordinate with the Dive Team, Boat Captains and Boat Owners regarding appropriate schedules. The priority is on customer safety and satisfaction while limiting excessive overtime.
• Ensure that there are sufficient boats for the daily activities
• Ensure additional freelance dive professionals (with a priority on local Filipino staff where possible) are recruited when required
• Update the scheduling sheet, keep the entire team informed and advise of any special needs for dive guests
• Coordinate transportation, and the money required, when launching from sites other than the resort
5. Water Sports Scheduling
• Inform and co-ordinate with the Guest Relations Agents and Guest Relations Supervisor regarding appropriate schedules. The priority is on customer safety and satisfaction while limiting excessive overtime.
• Ensure that there are sufficient banca boats, speed boats and crew for the daily activities
• Ensure additional casual Guest Relations Agents are recruited when required
• Update the scheduling sheet, keep the entire team informed and advise of any special needs for guests with advance bookings
• Coordinate transportation, and the money required, when launching from sites other than the resort
6. Financial Responsibilities
• Entire responsibility for Profit and Loss of the Scotty’s branch where based
• Responsible for advanced and delicate contract negotiations and renewals with luxury resorts
• Responsible for the accurate checking and issuance of Statements of Accounts, collections, deposits and reporting
• Monitor Petty Cash and issue cash to staff when required, accurately reporting and holding receipts
• Supervise daily reporting on financial transactions, be willing to make immediate transfers from own account for short notice rentals with reimbursement from the company later on.
• Supervise activities of Accounts Assistant; assuming all of their responsibilities in their absence.
7. Management/HR Responsibilities
• Entire responsibility for operations and running of the water sports and diving centre
• Operations Manager for Dive Staff, Boat Crew, Drivers and Guest Relations Agents
• Decision making on recruitment, disciplinary reviews, staff pay rises and staff incentives
• Checking and approving payroll and timesheets
• Leading daily briefings with team members and communicating DOLE updates when required
• Leading open-minded and fair reviews of staff members, taking into account their daily workload
7. First Aid Responsibilities
• Be the primary First Aid Responder when required
• In the unlikely event of a dive accident, follow protocols whilst safely administering oxygen as a certified Emergency Oxygen Provider
• As a First Aid Instructor, train and refresh staff on Primary and Secondary care
• Follow protocol as an EFR Airborne Pathogen Awareness Instructor
8. Additional Duties
• Be willing to relocate to other Scotty’s branches at short notice
• Primary Liaison for Events Teams for resorts; coordinating corporate events as requested
• Monitor Bauer Compressor maintenance and ordering filters or oil as required
• Attend BBASS, LGU and Dept. of Tourism seminars/meetings as the Scotty’s Boracay representative
• Monitor dive supplies and equipment; ordering new stock and decision making on the purchase of new equipment when required.
