Performs chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic test to provide data for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease;
2. Receives specimens or obtains specimen directly from patients for quantitative and qualitative analysis;
3. Cultivates, isolates, and identifies pathogenic bacteria, parasites and other microorganism;
4. Prepares stains, reagents, media and solutions necessary for the performance of all laboratory tests;
5. Assists in the preparation of monthly reports relative to laboratory procedures;
6. Maintains inventory of equipment, supplies, and reagents;
7. Performs quality control procedures;
8. Stores specimens for subsequent processing;
9. Refers problematic cases and situations to the Chief Med Tech or Pathologist;
10. Properly endorses all unperformed specimen and other matters to the next shift before going out of duty;
11. Records, releases and signs out laboratory results;
12. Supervises and directs the work of Laboratory Technician/ Phlebotomist and Laboratory Clerk;
13. Performs other additional duties given by the Chief Medical Technologist and Head of the Laboratory.
