MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (GOV)

1. ADMINISTRATIVE:

• Perform clerical duties for the unit/section
• Perform an inventory of supplies and equipment
• Attend meetings of the department and the institute
• Perform related work as required

2. TECHNICAL:

• Receive and assess acceptability of laboratory requests and specimens according to documented set of criteria.
• Assist in the performance of routine laboratory procedures.
• Assist the pathologist during gross examination/description of biopsy specimens.
• Assist in the preparation of materials and supplies for post mortem examination use.
• Assist in the performance of post-mortem/autopsy procedures.
• Assist in monitoring and maintenance of equipment in the laboratory and morgue.
• Perform related work as required.

3. TRAINING:

• Assist in the Training Program on Histotechnology for in-service personnel and external clients
• Attend training, seminars, and workshops on updates in total quality management of the laboratory and related activities of the institution

4. RESEARCH:

• Assist in the performance of histopathology work for the conduct of research projects (departmental or institutional).
• Assist in the collection and compilation of research-related data.
