Reference Data Associate
Your team responsibilities
The analyst will be part of the Reference Data Team which is a vital corporate resource at the functional core of MSCI’s service offerings. The team function supports a significant percentage of the firm's revenue by providing the daily production of timely, complete, relevant, and accurate reference data on over 10 million financial instruments as well as corporate actions data covering both exchange-traded and over-the-counter (where applicable) products globally.

Your key responsibilities
Be a member of a highly skilled and motivated team of analysts that solves complex problems regarding all aspects of Reference Data and Terms and Conditions (TnC) market data delivery including data sourcing, processing, loading, analysis, etc.
Monitor daily TnC market data production processes to ensure data accuracy and availability prior to scheduled downstream data deliveries.
Investigate TnC data quality issues, and coordinate with development teams, research teams, and market data suppliers on resolution of any identified content discrepancies and inconsistencies.
Understand codebase logic and relevant data flows to ensure effective data investigation and faster issue resolution.
Be able to learn and understand new and existing TnC market data requirements and business logic to enable downstream applications to properly model new and existing financial instruments (e.g. equities, fixed income, loans, derivatives, mutual funds, index, etc.).
Provide support to clients on data-related queries and requests.
Practice continuous improvement mindset and contribute to projects that supports better data production and data quality.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
Knowledge of financial market instruments, investment products, and risk management
Interest in market data content management that is specific but not limited to: equities, fixed income, loans, derivatives, mutual funds, index, and issuer entities of such asset types
Proficiency in SQL and relational databases, preferably Oracle and Sybase
Proficiency in programming languages such as Perl or Python is a must
Familiarity with large vendor market data architectures and products (e.g. Refinitiv DataScope and EJV Onsite, Markit, IDC) is a plus
Excellent communication skills combined with strong problem-solving skills and great attention to detail
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, IT, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative/ technology field
