Job Description

1. Plan and implement mine rehabilitation and ecological restoration.
2. Act as focal person for the company’s National Greening Program in partnership with the government and identify peoples’ organizations.
3. Lead the operations of the company’s nursery and ensure adequate production of suitable seedlings for the company’s planting projects.
4. Conduct biodiversity management and assessment throughout the project area.
5. Perform regular biodiversity/environmental monitoring within the established sampling stations of the company as well as in other areas as may be identified together with the company’s consultants.
6. Ensure a high survival rate of established plantations by implementing best practices in reforestation.
7. Ensure proper inventory of all instruments, tools, and materials required for biodiversity assessment.
8. Lead the conduct of in-house training, orientations, and materials related to environment and natural resources management.
9. Participate/represent the Environment Department during the conduct of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns about the company’s operations and compliance activities.
10. Keep a record of all the projects and activities conducted for environmental protection and enhancement.
11. Lead/assist in the formulation of the Biodiversity Management Plan, Rehabilitation Program, EPEP, Annual EPEP, and FMRDP.
12. Assist in the preparation of mandatory reports for environmental protection and enhancement.
13. Conduct studies for the improvement of environmental, forestry, and mine rehabilitation practices, methods, and performance.
14. Keep self-abreast of all existing and new laws, rules, and regulations related to mining and forestry.
15. Participate/represent the company during audits of government/regulatory agencies.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Must be a licensed Forester.
2. Must have at least two (2) years of mining-related experience and knowledge and skills in performing the following:
• Mine rehabilitation, reforestation, and ecological restoration
• Formulating environmental plans, programs, and reports
• Biodiversity assessment/environmental monitoring
• Project Management
• Liaising with government agencies such as the MGB, EMB, CENRO, and LGUs, among others.
• Mobilizing community/people’s organization
• Facilitating IECs, training, orientations, and meetings
3. Must have good interpersonal, communication, leadership, and people management skills
4. Must have in-depth knowledge of DENR and other government compliance requirements.
5. Must have experience or be familiar with ISO 14001 (EMS).
