Chief Mechanic

• Responsible for the implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance in motor pool including bus garage.
• He/she should ensure that all resources, such as manpower and materials including parts, are all utilized effectively and efficiently.
• Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles;
• Develops the Preventive Maintenance Program of all equipment, heavy and light, to lessen operational cost and usage;
• Oversees the whole motor pool personnel to attain their level of productivity through performance management system or corrective action, whenever necessary;
• Ensures availability of our buses and cargo vehicles at any given period avoiding loss of opportunity;
• Evaluates the level of competence the mechanics, drivers and/or operators are handling the equipment assigned to them.
• Takes responsibilities for proper care of all transportation equipment of tools and supplies
• Promote safety of garage by using proper tools and clean surroundings
• Performs other duties as may be appropriate to the position or as requested by maintenance manager
• Manages inventory of all buses and cargo's;
• Develop a work schedule for mechanics under him
• Be responsible for prioritizing and scheduling job tasks and mechanics in order to best utilize the workforce and time available
• Check and do quality control of all maintenance job performed during the day
• Supervise mechanics in the shop to ensure that they are performing the job correctly
• Make sure all maintenance employees are working harmoniously and to take lead of mechanic team
• Make sure to handle work related problems of all mechanics and escalate to Assistant Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Manager if needed.
• Religiously monitor Bus PMS schedule that should be done accordingly
• Follow company rules and regulations
• Work as a mechanic as needed
