A Chief Mechanic oversees the maintenance of the company vehicles and equipment in a safe and effective manner by performing preventive maintenance to ensure availability and reliability at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Report to assigned branch on or before work schedule, Monday to Saturday, 8:30am-5:30pm (see Employees' Schedule);
2. Wear complete and proper uniform/PPE when reporting for duty (refer to Policy on Uniform and Grooming);
3. Responsible for proper maintenance of all vehicles, equipment including the garage (refer to 5s Program and refer to Policy on Preventive
Maintenance);
4. Conduct Pre-Road Test for all driver applicants as part of pre-employment qualification requirement (refer to Pre and Post Road Test and Actual
Onsite Orientation);
5. Check drivers’ reports after each trip and make necessary repairs and adjustments as soon, as possible (refer to Policy on Preventive Maintenance
and Job Order Guidelines);
6. Follow a schedule for preventive maintenace like oil changes and lubrication of each unit (refer to Policy on Preventive Maintenance and Job Order
Guidelines);
7. Take responsibility for proper care of all vehicle tools, equipment and supplies (see Accountabilities);
8. Promote safety standards by using proper tools, wearing PPE and clean surroundings (refer to Occupational Health and Safety Standards
Guidelines);
9. Delegate task to the mechanic and schedule repair to maximize manpower, time and fleets efficiency;
10. Oversee and supervise work output of Mechanic;
11. Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
12. Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues and for possible repairs (refer to Policy on
Preventive Maintenance);
13. Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability and fuel efficiency (refer to Policy on Preventive Maintenance and Job Order Guidelines);
14. Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner (refer to Job Order Guidelines);
15. Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems (refer to Job Order Guidelines);
16. Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery (refer to Receiving of Diesel Product Policy and Refueling Service Panel and Truck
Policy);
17. Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventive measures to machine or vehicle users (refer to Policy on Preventive Maintenance);
18. Performs intermediate skilled work maintaining and repairing automotive and equipment (refer to Policy on Preventive Maintenance and Job Order
Guidelines);
19. Performs tune ups on trucks and its engines (refer to Policy on Preventive Maintenance and Job Order Guidelines);
20. Performs overhaul and replacement of major drive chain components such as engines, transmissions, etc. (refer to Policy on Preventive
Maintenance and Job Order Guidelines);
21. Assists in purchasing and obtaining necessary parts and supplies (refer to Purchase Order with Job Order (Direct Use), By Group and Individual
Inventory);
22. Suggest efficient and effective contingency plan in case of no available supplies of parts , tools or equipments to be used during repairs that will not
compromise safety and security of the vehicles.
23. Assists/Performs rescue and towing of broken-down vehicles.
24. Responds to after hour emergencies as requested.
