Job Description

What are the Roles and Responsibilities?
The Boiler Manager plays a key leadership role within the sugar manufacturing plant, overseeing the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of boiler systems. Responsible for managing all aspects of boiler operations, maintenance, compliance, and optimization, the Boiler Manager ensures adherence to regulatory standards, fosters a culture of safety, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Responsibilities:
1. Boiler Operations Management:
• Supervise and coordinate daily boiler operations to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Monitor boiler parameters, analyze performance data, and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain efficiency and compliance.
• Develop and implement operational procedures, protocols, and best practices to enhance boiler performance and safety.
• Utilize advanced analytical tools and methodologies to interpret boiler performance data, identify trends, and implement optimization strategies.
• Conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving exercises to address complex boiler-related challenges and improve operational efficiency.
2. Maintenance Program Oversight:
• Establish and oversee comprehensive boiler maintenance programs, including preventive maintenance schedules, predictive maintenance techniques, and corrective maintenance strategies.
• Coordinate maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
• Ensure compliance with maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
3. Safety and Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards in all boiler operations and maintenance activities.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.
• Facilitate safety training and awareness programs for boilers and maintenance personnel, promoting a culture of safety excellence.
• Stay abreast of industry regulations, codes, and standards applicable to boiler operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
• Facilitate inspections, audits, and regulatory certifications for boiler systems, maintaining documentation and records as necessary.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of boiler operators and maintenance personnel, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
• Provide training, guidance, and support to team members to enhance skills, knowledge, and performance.
5. Analytical and Problem-Solving Initiatives:
• Utilize advanced analytical tools and methodologies to interpret boiler performance data, identify trends, and implement optimization strategies.
• Conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving exercises to address complex boiler-related challenges and improve operational efficiency.
6. Budgeting and Resource Management:
• Develop and manage budgets for boiler operations, maintenance, and capital projects, optimizing expenditures while ensuring reliability and compliance.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency enhancements to maximize the return on investment in boiler systems.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, planning and engineering and materials control teams to ensure timely availability of spare parts, consumables, and maintenance supplies.
7. Communication and Collaboration:
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and external stakeholders to coordinate activities, address operational issues, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies to support boiler-related projects and initiatives.

Qualifications/Requirements

What are the Qualifications?
1. Education and Licensure: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with professional licensure.
2. Experience:
• Demonstrated expertise in managing boiler operations within industrial environments, preferably in manufacturing or energy production sectors.
• Proven track record of overseeing boiler maintenance programs, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
3. Technical Proficiency:
• Comprehensive understanding of boiler systems, encompassing design, operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting boiler-related issues and implementing corrective measures to maintain efficiency and compliance.
4. Regulatory Compliance:
• Thorough knowledge of boiler regulations, codes, and standards, ensuring adherence to safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
• Experience in facilitating inspections, audits, and regulatory certifications for boiler systems.
5. Leadership and Management Skills:
• Strong leadership abilities to effectively supervise and mentor a team of boiler operators and maintenance personnel.
• Proven track record of fostering a safety-conscious work culture and promoting continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:
• Advanced analytical skills to interpret boiler performance data, identify trends, and implement optimization strategies.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies to address complex boiler-related challenges.
7. Financial Acumen:
• Experience in budget planning, cost control, and resource allocation for boiler maintenance and operational needs.
• Ability to optimize expenditures while ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of boiler systems.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and external stakeholders.

• Proven capability in planning, executing, and overseeing boiler-related projects, including installations, upgrades, and retrofits.
• Experience in coordinating with contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project success and compliance.

• Demonstrated commitment to driving continuous improvement initiatives in boiler operations, maintenance practices, and efficiency enhancements.
