Job Description

The Merchant Associate is responsible for the affiliation/disaffiliation of New-to-bank (NTB) merchants for P2M/e-wallet and/or new product expansion in his/her area of responsibility. He/She is also responsible in servicing the needs and concerns of his/her merchants. He/she also provide assistance to the division, company promotions and projects. RM will be based in North Luzon, South Luzon, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Searches and evaluates prospective merchants for affiliation within the area of responsibility by building their own portfolio through the following:
1.1 Negotiates with and/or persuades companies, establishment owners and general managers to agree on the discount rates (for POS, B2B, QR PH, PayLater, DCC and ECom)
1.2 Ensures completeness of the merchant agreement, merchant application sheet and all documentary requirements necessary for the application before submission for onboarding.
1.3 Handles the profitability of newly affiliated merchants and monitors discount rate to be offered (to be checked bi-annually or as needed).
1.4 Installs POS / QR Stickers/ E-Wallets and/or other new products and orients store managers, cashiers and other personnel on a regular basis enumerating:
• Proper card/payment acceptance / handling procedures
• Fraud detection
• Reimbursement procedures
• Charge backs
2. Conducts regular visitation to assigned merchants, ensuring all immediate needs and concerns of the merchants are addressed properly and promptly.
2.1 Attends to all merchant problems especially those that require immediate attention such as POS problems and charge backs. Recommends possible actions thereto for possible resolution.
2.2 Ensures that merchants are well informed and updated on matters regarding card acceptance, billings processing and settlements and other marketing programs of the company.
2.3 Attends to merchant requests for supplies (thermal rolls, bill folders, & signage)
3. Reviews actual billings against targets and prepares weekly and monthly analysis reports for submission to the division and group head.
4. Recommends and undertakes disaffiliation of merchants (e.g. non billers, those who fail to meet billings requirements, fraud merchants, those who surcharges or as recommended by CCAP).
5. Performs cross selling of other bank services like auto-credit arrangement with an RCBC branch
6. Assists on special projects aimed at improving billings and revenues and certain aspects of operations which may be initiated by the different departments/divisions of the company.
7. Prospects and maintains merchant that are qualified for P2M, E-wallets, and/or new products apt for merchants categorized as Small by BSP, card schemes, and/or RCBC.
8. Assesses and effectively manages all of the risks associated with their business objectives and activities to ensure that they are aligned with the bank’s risk management framework.
9. Practices the value in customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions, and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
1. Graduate of any 4-year business course preferably Marketing
2. Preferably with experience in the field of marketing and sales
3. Experience in Merchant Acquiring is an advantage
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills
5. Organized, amiable strong PR, flexible, articulate, able to handle pressure
6. Willing to be assigned outside of NCR
