Job Description

The Accounting Assistant assists the accounting team in day-to-day tasks related to financial record-keeping, data entry, and administrative support. They play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial information and supporting the overall functioning of the accounting department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Entry: Accurately enter financial transactions into the accounting system or software.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist in processing invoices, payments, and receipts. Help reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Expense Management: Record and track expenses, prepare expense reports, and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank statements and verifying discrepancies.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Support in maintaining and updating the general ledger.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in generating financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance, such as filing, answering phones, and responding to inquiries.
  • Assisting Audits: Assist during internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting principles, procedures, and relevant regulations.

Qualifications/Requirements

    • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's degree is a plus).
    • Proven experience (usually 1-3 years) as an Accounting Assistant or in a similar role.
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or other ERP systems) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
    • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
    • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements.
