HISTORY
The founders, Tang Ben and Imang Lucing, started their own grocery business after their marriage in 1958. Before their union, Tang Ben is already inheriting the business acumen of his late father “Apung Coning” Naguit who pioneered together with the late Juan T. Macapinlac, a successful entrepreneur, the local business popularly called "Viaje" which employed many Minalenios as "Viajeros" or travelling salesmen throughout the Philippine Archipelago. While, Imang Lucing Mago of Mexico, Pampanga, through hard work and perseverance working in her sister’s grocery as a saleslady, made to finish her Education Degree at Harvardian College.
With their union, came the birth of Sta. Monica Grocery sometime in the early ‘60s at the Old Public Market of San Fernando. They were business partners and they expanded its services by integrating money exchange and money lending made available to their customers. They were also into furniture export, appliance retail marketing, buy and sell, and aqua business (fishpond owner/operator). In the year 1986, Sta. Monica Pawnshop was established — and up to present, it survived the test of time.
On 1990, one of their sons “Bong” joined the pawnshop business. Eventually, Sta. Monica Pawnshop evolved into a gadget pawnshop, wherein “Nilo”, who is the eldest of the sons, formally joined the team. He spearheaded in setting-up and running the gadget pawnshop business, which Sta. Monica Pawnshop pioneered in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
