A goal without a plan is just a wish.
It all started in 2009 when the decision was made to develop a lot, part of the land back of Carlos A Gothong Group of Companies to become a recreational and small resort. Fencing works started in 2010, and planning for the resort began in 2011, with this Cris Gothong, assigned as General Manager ang manning the helm. The vision of providing a value for money leisure destination was clearly the main driving force for the fruition of Sand Bar Resort.
However, this did not stop here. Realizing that Cebu was slowly being known in the world as a great tourist destination, Cris then took the opportunity to bring in BEST WESTERN International, a chain of 4000 hotels around the world, for a strategic partnership. During this time, BEST WESTERN had no presence in Cebu and thus way very much interested as well in introducing their brand of care and history to the people. Thus the resort became officially known as BEST WESTERN Sand Bar Resort, which opened on March 6, 2013, with 58 rooms and 2 swimming pools.
A lot has happened since the opening of the resort, new rooms and facilities were added every year, and the resort has astonishingly been one of the fastest growing mid scale resort in Cebu. From just having 58 rooms on 2013, it aims to have more than 288 by 2015 and 398 before 2020. With great people, appreciative guests, and supportive owners, the dream to become the best in Cebu is not becoming that far-fetched anymore.
