We are a 300-bed facility, non-stock, non-profit institution duly established and existing under Philippine Laws with principal office in the City of Dumaguete, Philippines. It started as an infirmary in 1901 which later on evolved to be the Silliman Mission Hospital and was renamed as SUMC some time in 1960s. In 1999, the Board of Trustees of Silliman University decided to spin-off the Hospital as a separate entity to give it more autonomy and flexibility in the running of its affairs.

Today, SUMC FOUNDATION INC., serves both the university and the surrounding community. It is now classified as a TERTIARY HOSPITAL and licensed/authorized by the Department of Health (DOH).
