SCM operates in a manner that protects and promotes seafarers’ employment rights. Officers and ratings are placed only on ships wherein labor conditions are in compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) requirements. The office team includes experienced Master Mariners, Certified Public Accountants, and highly specialized administrational clerks, most of whom have been with the company for many years. The company’s well-tuned quality management system since 1998 is certified in accordance with ISO9001 by DNV.
Experiencing continued growth, the company’s deployment over the years had increased to the number of 2,200 annually. In recognition of its accomplishments and high standard, SCM received the Top Performer Award from the Philippine Department of Labor in 2006.
In order to support the outsourcing of labor and cost-intensive crewing operations from Germany and Cyprus, in recent years, the company has been entrusted with several additional tasks and responsibilities. In 2019, SCM successfully applied for an extension of its original primary business purpose with the SEC and since then has been enabled to provide the full range of crew management services to its principals, not only for Philippine seafarers but also for officers and crew of other nationalities.
