In 1949, Fortuna Ice Plant and Cold Storage was established by Juan D. Salvador as one of its properties comprising the corporation. Fortuna Ice Plant and Cold Storage was inherited by Mr. Federico Salvador upon approval of the partition agreement in July of 1967.
Fortuna Ice Plant and Cold Storage had a certificate of convenience approved by the Public Service Commission to operate 15 ton capacity plant which can produce a maximum 100 blocks of ice daily.

An increase in the demand of ice in 1969 fave the way for an additional 60 ton capacity in 1970. By 1972 saw the installation of the blower on his 15 ton brine tank to produce “crystal ice “for sale to the restaurants, hotels and refreshment counters.
The congressional franchise to add another 60 ton capacity brine tank was approved on 1973 and the brine tank became operational in 1976. Total tonnage by this time reached 135 tons of the combined 3 brine tanks with a total production of 900 blocks per day for distribution.
Mr. Federico Z. Salvador suffered a massive Cardiac Arrest on March 9, 1982 and his only son Mr. Benjamin J. Salvador took over the ice plant and implemented his own style of business that kicked off by applying for a permit to construct a branch in Estancia, the branch became operational in 1987.
Estancia’s success led to Roxas City, Capiz ice plant construction to service the fishing ports of Culasi, Libas, and Banica. In 1988, Mr. Benjamin J. Salvador together with his mother Erlinda Jalandoni Salvador and his sister Ma. Victoria Salvador Sanson applied for permission to construct a 54 ton capacity brine tank to purposely service the city of Roxas.

By April 1989 the family corporation was named Star Ice Plant and Cold Storage, Inc. that led to the procurement of the Pontevedra ice plant in Capiz, formerly owned by Congressman Andaya., in December 1991. The plant was equipped with all modern refrigeration facilities needed to support fishpond and prawn industry of that town. It was renovated and increased to a 20 ton capacity plant.
With the support of his two (2) children, Jose Maria G. Salvador and Benjamin G. Salvador, Jr., Fortuna Ice Plant and Cold Storage under the stewardship of Mr. Benjamin J. Salvador became a major contributor to the economy of the nation.
