PLERM CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION was formally organized in June 1986 as General Engineering and General Building Contractor. In 1990, a big opportunity came when PLERM was introduced to TOYO Construction Co., Ltd., a notable Japanese firm. The first project from TOYO was awarded to PLERM in October 1990, a retrieval project in Manila, followed in December 1990 by the Floating Dock Facilities project in Bauan, Batangas. The following year, PLERM acquired its first units of heavy equipment, a unit of wheel loader and one unit of dump truck.
From then on, TOYO Construction becomes a major partner of PLERM in its construction business. However, with the growing demands for jobs to compensate the growing work force of PLERM, the company stretched out its clientele. PLERM entered into contracts with other private contractors as well as with some government agencies. In 1996, PLERM got its second major partner when it entered into contracts with NEC System Integration and Construction Ltd., another Japanese firm engaged in telephone line projects.
In 2000, PLERM was accredited as one of General Contractor of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation where it successfully completed its first major contract With its distinguished Corporation, where it successfully completed its first major contract. With its distinguished performance, PLERM ventured to different foreign contractors including Tai-se, Zenitaka, and Kumagai Gumi. In year 2004, PLERM got its newest foreign partner, Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co., Ltd., a Korean base General Contractor. On September 2004, Hanjin awarded to Plerm its major contract, two bridges project located at Cagayan province.
At present, PLERM Construction and Development Corporation vows to pursue its vision of becoming one of the highly respected construction firms in the Philippines and to continuously play becoming one of the highly respected construction firms in the Philippines and to continuously play a major role in nation-building by providing quality service to its clientele.
