Established in 2001 Nurture Wellness Village (nurture.com.ph) is a pioneer in the Philippine spa and wellness industry located in
Tagaytay City, Philippines, a popular tourism destination due to its accessibility to Manila and its cool mountain climate. Nurture
strives to be a sustainable resort and has been awarded the Anahaw Award for Sustainability by Zero Carbon Resorts, a German
funded initiative which recognizes tourism establishments for their sustainability efforts. It is also a member of the Sustainable
Diner movement and has been featured several times in media for its wellness, farm tourism sustainability and inclusive growth
efforts.
Nurture Wellness Village is a Department of Tourism accredited destination which has been a consistent recipient of Trip Advisor’s
Certificate of Excellence (2013- present). It was given a Travelers Choice Award by Trip Advisor in 2019 and named as #8 in Service
among all hotels in the Philippines. Selected to be an APEC 2015 destination, it has been named One of the 28 Most Relaxing Spas
in Asia by CNN Go and one of the Top Seven Spas of the Philippines by Asia Spa Magazine.
What started out as a small business offering spa services in 1800sqm. has grown through the years into a sprawling hectare of
gardens offering cozy accommodations, food and beverage services, wellness, spa, teambuilding, weddings and corporate events.
Nurture started with 4 employees; it now has 130 staff (regular and part time) of which 50% are women. Only 40% of the employees
have finished college education; most of the staff are employed from the neighboring community/barangay. Inclusive growth is a
cornerstone of Nurture’s philosophy; its success is measured in terms of the 3 P’s: People, Planet, Profit. Developing its people is a
core belief in Nurture Management; lack of higher education is not considered a barrier to hiring; staff are trained extensively in
all areas with emphasis on a holistic approach of building knowledge, developing skills and creating a healthy and positive mindset.
Values development is emphasized through meetings, and outreach programs.
The company is passionate about service, the environment, its employees and most importantly, wellness. NW’s core advocacy
includes making wellness fun and inclusive, the promotion of health among the Filipino people, promoting the Philippines’ rich
cultural heritage and traditions, and environmental sustainability.
The company’s commitment to their core advocacies is shown by the all-natural spa treatments, utilizing local products and
traditions to sustain the native culture and lessen the carbon footprint; a strong corporate wellness program for large corporations,
and through the establishment of an environmentally sustainable health and wellness operation in which systems have been put
in place for waste management, water and energy conservation and the adoption of the best practices of the Locavore movement.

CORE STRATEGIES: THE NURTURE WAY
OUR MISSION
Helping the world become healthier, happier, better: one person, one family, one team at a time.
OUR VISION
To be the leading Filipino-themed wellness destination in the country and exporter of healthy Filipino food products.

The CHOICES model was introduced by Cathy in the book “Turn Back Time: Natural Anti-Aging CHOICES” which she authored.
Located deep amidst coffee orchards, Nurture Wellness Village offer a distinctive brand of “Ecotherapy” or healing by and through
nature. They provide a unique Filipino wellness experience, from its unique Ifugao native huts to its Filipino themed decor to its
therapeutic Filipino themed spa treatments, to its Filipino fusion cuisine in its restaurant and to its medicinal plants-themed farming
experience.
Nurture offers a wide range of spa and wellnessservices for individuals, couples, families and corporate teams. Its signature Filipino
treatments Nilaib (, Hilot and Dagdagay treatments celebrate the country’s wellness culture. Its Amu,in oils are a local
aromatherapy brand developed by Nurture’s CEO, Dr. Mike Turvill who holds a Doctorate in Organic Chemistry. Amu’in, use
essential oils from depressed communities; a percentage of profits are given to the essential oil producing community. Its
detoxification and natural healing treatments were developed by a licensed medical doctor who has been practicing integrative
and alternative medicine for almost 20 years. Nurture’s holistic and customized weight loss programs include a computerized health
scan, detoxification and spa services, wellness coaching, healthy food preparation, organic gardening activities, food and
accommodation.
Nurture’s strategy in promoting wellness lies in its fun and educational approach. Its ground breaking program “The Work Well
Program” introduces healthy living to companies through fun-filled educational team building activities aimed at encouraging
employees to adopt a sustainable wellness lifestyle. Activities include Tai Qi, Juice Demonstrations, Chair Yoga, Happy Dance,
Partner Massage, Salad Wars among others.
It is to be noted that the activities are facilitated by Nurture’s own team of therapists, front desk staff, room boys, farmers who
have been trained to perform additional functions beyond their usual day to day activities. Such expansion of their functions has
allowed them to get out of their comfort zone, expand their knowledge, develop their self-esteem and increase their selfconfidence. It is heartwarming to see a therapist who has not received higher education and whose self-esteem was very low (“I
am just a plain housewife”) develop the skills to confidently lead executives, government ministers and large groups in breathing
and exercise Tai Qi sessions.
The “Work Well Project” has been received very positively by several local and multinational companies who return again and again
to expose their employees to the health promoting activities of the Work Well Project. It has also been praised by Ms. Elizabeth
Ziemba, international medical tourism consultant who made a study on Medical Tourism in the Philippines and featured the project
in her international medical travel show.
Nurture Wellness Village provides a haven for relaxation and healing to the stressed-out urbanite.
PROUDLY FILIPINO
Promoting Filipino culture, embedded in Nurture’s soul, shines through the spa treatments, architecture, décor, accessories, and
various activities offered in Nurture Wellness Village. Its Amu’in oils are branded as proudly Filipino and use essential oils from
depressed communities in the Philippines. A percentage of profits are given to the essential oil producing community in the form
of uniforms, school supplies and other forms of assistance.
The Filipino culture is promoted through the “Katipunero” costumes are worn by the gardeners, “Botika ni Lola” features traditional
Filipino healing plants, Bahay Kubo section showcases the various vegetables in the popular Bakay Kubo song and the “Hardin ng
Albularyo” section showcases magic herbs used by Filipino healing shamans.
