Nephila Web Technology, Inc (NWTI) was established in April 2011 as an IT consultancy firm committed to provide Information and Communications Technology solutions through the use of Open Source Technology (OST).
The company’s name was inspired by the golden orb-weavers, the Nephila spider, which is most known for the impressive webs they weave. These spiders make large and strong webs that are not easily dismantled and even last for several years. Their webs are also used as silk in making fishing lures, traps and nets. NWTI is driven to deliver the same quality of output to its clientele, partners and stakeholders, while remaining as a lean startup.
We are most passionate about education and hence built our service offerings around this industry. While most IT firms present themselves as a “one stop shop” for all and any business solutions needs, we have deliberately focused on developing and perfecting IT services that are related to School Information (SIS) and Learning Management Systems (LMS) both for academe and non-academe.
As a testament to our focus on education, NWTI became the first local Moodle-certified solutions provider in the Philippines in 2016. In line with this, NWTI mounted the first ever MoodleMoot Conference in the Philippines at the Manila Hotel, last April 2018, where hundreds of educators and programmers within the region came together to collaborate on how we can all empower each other to improve our world using the world’s most widely used open-source learning management platform, Moodle.

OUR ADVOCACY: OPEN SOURCE TECHNOLOGY
Open Source philosophy means that anyone may copy and redistribute the software, modify and add features into it, and study the software source code. Open Source platforms carry a General Public License (GPL) and are therefore opposite to proprietary softwares that lock their code from the public and require license for its usage. Open Source Softwares are supported by the Open Source community all around the world. The support of the end-users and software developers who are willing to contribute and share their ideas, knowledge and skills is the reason why open-source platforms such as Moodle develop rapidly.
We strongly believe that Open Source is the driver of innovation and the key to achieving greater access in developing and applying technology.
