COMPANY HISTORY
The Manly Plastics, Inc. history can be traced from a Filipino-Chinese family whose ancestral roots is
from Mainland China, where the grandfather of the Co family brought in trade to Manila in the nineteen
twenties.
What started as a machine shop evolved into an injecting plastic business for shoe heels for Manly
shoes, situated in the busy street of Carriedo, Manila in the mid 60’s, which eventually grew into six big
companies.
Manly Plastics, Inc. has been a leader in plastic products manufacturing since its inception in 1967.
Starting with eight employees and a 400-square meter plant in Royal St., Bo. Kangkong, Quezon City, what
began as a family-operated, small scale business evolved into a six-plant operation, namely Manly Plastics
Inc. – Judge Luna, Centennial Plastics Corporation – Sucat, Centennial Plastics Corporation –
Bagbaguin, Sentinel Plastic Manufacturing Corporation – Malabon, Filpet, Inc. – Malabon and
M-Plus Plastics Manufacturing Corporation – Laguna consigned in injection molding and injection –
stretched blow molding of plastic, from consumer and industrial products to home furniture.
Personnel expertise can be traced to MPI’s unique apprenticeship and continuous team-building
programs.
Technology-wise, MPI boasts of a complete range of sophisticated, state-of-the-art injection machines.
MPI also has affiliations with several Asian companies to keep abreast with the latest in Plastic products
manufacturing technology. Domestic mold makers seek MPI for manufacturing assistance. A CAD/CAM
system ensures accuracy of molds. In short, MPI’s nature of business can be described as subcontracting highly technical parts for electrical
appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioning units, stereo sets, television sets and information
technology equipment like computers. A unique system of employing Customer Service Engineers
guarantees customer satisfaction by acting as conduits in establishing quality requirements in every phase
of the development, testing, manufacturing, and delivery of their products.
Despite competition, reduction costs, innovation of products and resins, plastic applications and energy
crisis – forces that challenge MPI and its customer’s success – we have remained strong in our commitment
in maintaining leadership in the plastics industry and in contributing to the industrialization of the country.
Manly’s dedication to quality has earned itself an ISO 9000 certification, limited only to the quality, fine
workmanship, and technological capabilities. Having the latest injection machinery in the Philippines and the
whole of South East, the company has unfolded its wings to various producing companies like Matsushita
Electronics, Sharp Phils., Philacor, Conception Industries, Mitsubishi Motors, Phils., Inc., Sanden Aircon
Phils., Nestle, Procter & Gamble, Pepsi Cola and other big companies. Its growing strength emanates from
its corporate commitment, “To be globally competitive in the manufacturing and marketing of quality molded
products for the satisfaction of customers and end-users by continuously adding value through people’s
effectiveness in an environmentally capable operation”.
Keeping a clear view on the growing concern to the environment these days, the company is very much
committed to recycling. Plastics being non-biodegradable, can be recycled and be used for other purposes
like containers, hangers, pails and other products that the company also produces for its customers.
Currently, Manly Plastics, Inc. not only has earned an ISO certification for quality and fine workmanship,
but likewise has earned the EMS 14001:2004 certification.
Apart from its manufacturing company affiliates, Manly Plastics, Inc. is likewise affiliated with
CBT Realty & Development Corporation, a realty & development company; First Pinnacle Trading
Corporation, a trading company involved in supplying the needs of the food service and hospitality industry,
more specifically, the company designs outdoor set-ups, supplies outdoor furniture, parasols, umbrellas and
awnings, sells and services hotel safes, supplies kitchen and dining area equipment such as wash racks,
trays, trolleys, food pans, and ceramic replacement plates; and Sanko Plastics Philippines, Inc., a joint
venture between Manly Plastics, Sanko Plastics Japan and Toyota Tsusho, which is involved in the sales
and marketing of material handling solutions. The product line includes material handling crates, trolleys and
pallets.

On what is the story behind the company’s success, Mr. Virgilio Co in pride and treasure said, “hard
work and people…increasing employee’s knowledge in their job. Make them do things they thought they are
not capable of.” In other words…
