Mabini is a coastal municipality in the Province of Davao de Oro. It is categorized as a second-class municipality and it is known for the cultivation of crops such as cavendish bananas which is widely seen in the municipality due to presence of cooperative managed banana plantations, other crops are also cultivated like coconuts, corn, and other root crops. Small-scale mining and fishery also contribute to the local economy. Mabini's economy has been gradually expanding in recent years, with the growth of agribusiness, trade, and the development of the tourism sector, particularly eco-tourism due to its natural attractions such as lush forests, rivers, waterfalls and vast coastlines where different beach resorts are located such as Dusit Thani-Lubi Plantation, Beach View Resort, Lapyahan Beach Resort, White Beach Resort, etc. The local culture and festivals also play a role in attracting visitors and generating income through tourism-related activities. Mabini, akin to other municipalities in the Philippines, operates under the governance of a municipal mayor (Hon. Emerson L. Luego), vice mayor (Hon. Halima B. Muñoz-Licawan), and its legislative arm, the sangguniang bayan. It is an integral part of the broader administrative framework within the Province of Davao de Oro, contributing to the local governance and development efforts of the region.
