COMPANY PROFILE

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

 Goodfound Cement Corporation (GCC) is a domestic corporation registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 5, 1996 in accordance to Corporation Code of the Philippines, Batas Pambansa Blg. 68 and the Foreign Investment Act of 1991 with SEC registration No. A1996-05614. The company is owned by Taiwanese investors.

 The construction of its cement manufacturing facility started on July 1998 after it was granted by an Environmental Compliance Certificate by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Environmental Management Bureau on April 8, 1998. The commercial operation started on June 2000.

 GCC was listed with the Board of Investment (BOI) as a pioneer status on September 11, 1996 with Certificate No. DP-96-216 in accordance to Omnibus Investment Code of 1987 with an annual production of 350,000 MT cement.

LOCATION:

The cement is located in Barangay Palanog, Camalig, Albay. It is about 7 kilometers from the town proper of Camalig and almost the same distance from the municipality of Guinobatan, Province of Albay. The municipality of Camalig is located on the southern slope of Mayon Volcano and is bounded by the municipalities of Guinobatan on the west, the municipality of Daraga on the east and the municipality of Jovellar in the south.

CAPITAL EXPENDITURES:

 The cement manufacturing facility was completed on February 2000 and commercial operation started June 2000 after securing the necessary legal documents for its operation. Total investments poured amounted to PhP 1.25 Billion. This includes land acquisition, capital equipment, design, construction, and installation, testing and commissioning.

 Additional capital in the amount of PhP 450 Million was infused in 2008 for the construction of a 10-MW Coal-Fired Power Plant to address high electricity cost from power suppliers and from the electricity spot market on some occasions. Another PhP 1.2 Billion was invested over a two year period for the construction of Production Line #2 with a production capacity of 3,000 MT per day which started in 2011 and was completed in the last quarter of 2013.

 The old Line #1 was shutdown in December 2015 and underwent retrofitting and resumed operation on January 2019 with an increase production capacity of 2,000 MT per day from 800 MT per day. The additional investment poured for retrofitting amounted to Php 300 Million.

PRESENT STATUS:

The company sources its limestone from the five existing quarries in Miti, Camalig and the MPSA area of Ibalong Resources and Development Corporation in Palanog, Camalig and Mauraro, Guinobatan. Other raw material additives like silica sand, pozzolanic material, clay, gypsum, pyrite cinder are sourced locally and from other countries from different independent suppliers. Coal which is used as fuel is sourced from Indonesia and in small volume from Rapu-rapu Island, Philippines.

The current cement clinker production ranges from 4,000 to 4,500 MTPD. GCC manufactures three types of cement, namely: Type 1 Portland Cement, Type 1P and Pozzolan cement using the brand name “Mayon”. GCC focuses its cement market in the Bicol Region for being the only cement plant in the region. Moreover, it also distributes excess cement production to nearby provinces outside of Bicol like Quezon Province, Laguna, Cavite, Samar and even Metro Manila.
