The Gensan Shipyard and Machine Works Inc. (GSMWI) was founded in the Philippines in 1999 to handle the dry-docking, repair and construction needs of all fishing and service delivery boats. Gensan Shipyard is owned by the RD Corporation and the family of Rodrigo E. Rivera Sr., Mr. Rivera is recognized as one of the country's successful business entrepreneur whose RD Group employs more than ten thousand workers.

Originally founded in order to cater our own fishing and service fleets. We began offering services to local vessels in the year 2003. In 2006, and following on from this domestic success, our company saw the potential to expand our services to accommodate foreign clients who had docked in the Philippines. Having catered to clients from Papua New Guinea, South Korea, China, & Taiwan, our cutting-edge facilities in Mindanao contain gigantic twin slipways with combined lifting capacity of 10,000 tons and two floating dock with individual capacity of 5,000 tons and 2,500 tons GRT (gross-registered tonnage) respectively.

Occupying an area of more than 210,000 square metres, our company's yard is capable of full-scale ship repair, building, fabrication and ship recycling. Establishing ourselves as one of the leaders in ship design and construction in the Philippines, Gensan Shipyard is as equally regarded in terms of our specialized repair and maintenance. Because we have played such an important role in transforming a once remote locality into a thriving economic hub, previously-unemployed residents are able to augment earnings from employment in Gensan Shipyard.
