Diwa Leaming Systems Inc ( Diwa), a subsidiary of First Asia Venture Capital, is the
leading publisher of print and digital educational resources in the country today' Diwa has
evolved to become a multi-awarded and innovative provider of educational solutions, with an
extensive distribution network across the Philippines.
Diwa was founded by its Chairman and President Saturnino G. Belen. Diwa got started
when it acquired the rights to publish Bato Balani for Science and Technology, a science
magazine for high school students. At around the same time, the company began production of
Salaguinto, a counterpart science magazine for grade school students. Branded as Supplemental
Educational Magazines (SEMs) these two titles became Diwa's most identifiable and best-selling
products.
At present, Diwa also publishes magazines for Math, English, Filipino, Araling
Panlipunan, Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health, and Computer Studies. Maintaining the
high quality of its products has become deeply ingrained within the company's corporate culture.
The editorial content of Diwa's SEMs and textbooks are provided by the University Press of
First Asia (UPFA), a joint undertaking of Diwa and First Asia Institute of Technology and
Humanities ( FAITH).
Diwa has been the pioneer at developing Information and Communications Technology
(ICT)-enhanced educational solutions that go beyond "learning how to use technology", to
"using technology to learn". All of its printed digital resources are available in electronic format,
making anytime, anywhere, any device leaming possible. Its flagship digital product is GENYO,
the Philippines' first fully integrated and only learning management system for basic education
with content available for English, Math, Science, Filipino, and Araling Panlipunan. It is already
being used in over 150 schools in the Philippines, and since 2008 has had a user base of over
180,000 subscribers spread out all across the country.
The scope of the company's product offerings means that Diwa is well positioned to offer
