BHF –Baguio Group of Companies is currently one of the thriving business entities in the city. It’s humble beginning date back to early 1992. The tragic earthquake of the previous year urged local governance to push for economic recovery through renewed efforts at tourism and campaigns to increase business investments. Heeding this call, Dr. and Mrs. Mendoza took the risk of investing to give rise to their pioneer business enterprise, the BHF BAGUIO PAWNSHOP AND GEMLINE CENTER. This was originally and still is located at Lower Session Road, Baguio City. The pawnshop’s primary goal was and still is to provide assistance to the public especially during their critical and urgent times of need. On the other hand, Gemline Center offers quality and affordable jewelry products.
Evidently, diligence and business acumen proved to be effective in the operations. With success at its heel and catering to a growing clientele, BHF-Baguio established a second pawnshop at Bonifacio Street in October 1995.
Alongside the fervent hope for the company to grow financially, the call to community service remained with the Mendozas’ personal ethics. Thus, from the call to service came the birth of another endeavor on May 6, 1996, the BHF PHARMACY. This branch of the business is more often referred to as the “charitable arm” of the company as it seeks to render service to the community through affordable quality drug products and services. This is the BHF-Baguio way of giving back to the community the support it has unselfishly given.
The operations of the three existing enterprises churned up funds for another pawnshop branch set up at Upper Session Road. Its creation in February 22, 2002 continues to be along company’s effort at access for its pawners.
In early 2003, ShoeMart - Baguio, a branch of the Philippines’ largest mall chain, was built atop the city’s main thoroughfare. Again, BHF-Baguio furthered its effort to reach out to its growing customer base setting up a shop at the 2nd floor of the local SM mall. BHF Gemline Center-SM thus opened its doors on January 26, 2004. The store showcases its renowned quality jewelry merchandise and is home to the signature BHF-Baguio smile service.
The Mendoza couple’s most recent business concept gave rise to Bloomfield Hotel, a simple-yet-elegant edifice that stands at the fore of Leonard Wood Road. Its eight floors with 30 exquisitely furnished rooms and suites were opened on March 17, 2005 to provide a second home to guests on business or pleasure trips. The hotel’s premier facilities and its efficient service are guaranteed to provide impeccably clean and comfortable accommodations for the weary traveler or the leisure guest.
The continuous quest for escalating success drove the company to further develop and uphold the competitive business line. BHF Pawnshop opened its 3rd branch in # 27 Gomez Bldg., Kayang St. on March 2009 to accommodate the market in the central business district of Baguio City.
After more than a decade of stable and customer-focused approach, the Mendoza’s decided to extend BHF Pawnshop to the bordering municipality of Baguio - La Trinidad - on August 2012. This allowed the company to bring its services closer to the neighboring community.
Today, BHF-Baguio Group of Companies has rightfully instilled itself as a part of Baguio City. It labors to live up to its reputation of quality products and courteous and efficient services while searching for other venues to reach out to the community it serves.
