Bay-Sports Manufacturing Inc. (BSMI) was established in 1995 in the beautiful pine tree-covered city of Baguio City, Philippines. This tourist city is nestled some 4,300 feet high in the Cordillera Mountains and is located 250 kilometers north of Manila.
BSMI set up its factory in the government-owned techno-park called the Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA) in Loakan Road, Baguio City.

HOW BAY-SPORTS GOT ITS NAME
In the first two years of its operation, the main product of BSMI was components of sporting equipment like ‘in-line’ roller skates. It owes its name to this early sports-manufacturing legacy. But it would not remain just a manufacturer of sporting goods for long.

1997: PRODUCT DIVERSIFICATION
After two years, the product line was expanded. BSMI began producing more technical products with electronic components and complex moving parts.
Digital radios, alarm clocks, computer pointing devices (“mouse”), calculators, and several LCD games were produced by the thousands and exported all over the world.

LEGENDARY GERMAN QUALITY STANDARD
Working with a German partner, BSMI also began producing popular consumer products. In particular; it produced several variants of chocolate dispensers featuring that company’s cartoon character mascot. The cleverly designed dispensers were commissioned by and sold to one of the largest confectioners in the world.

OEM: MAKING BUSINESS PROCESS OUTSOURCING WORK FOR YOU
This began the phase of operation of BSMI as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) with the capability to produce custom-made products for any client company, based on that company’s demands and specifications.
To produce chocolate dispensers for its biggest client company, BSMI had to meet the highest levels of health and safety standards in the entire industry. After all, its products would come into contact with food. So not only were the highest-quality food-grade raw materials used, the manufacturing process was completely sanitized to World Health standards.
To stay at the cutting edge of the industry, BSMI has complied with every international certification requirement. All the permanent components of its products are thoroughly tested by Intertek for Toy Safety Requirement under EN71 and ASTM – F963 and other reputable testing institutions in Europe and Asia.

2007: PRODUCTION SHIFTS TO HIGH GEAR
In 2007, the production capacity of BSMI was expanded, enabling it to produce up to six million different product items per year. The backbone of this increased capacity is its totally modernized factory utilizing the latest technology in injection, printing, spray, and product assembly—always with a very keen eye on quality maintenance.

HUMAN RESOURCES: HIGHLY MOTIVATED WELL TRAINED AND LOYAL PERSONNEL
In 2007, the production capacity of BSMI was expanded, enabling it to produce up to six million different product items per year. The backbone of this increased capacity is its totally-modernized factory utilizing the latest technology in injection, printing, spray, and product assembly—always with a very keen eye on quality maintenance.
For BSMI’s management, the main concerns are quality and delivery on time. This is why over the past years; clients have increasingly relied on our services. After proving our reliability with smaller job orders at first, one of them began sourcing more and more of its OEM requirements from us. By the year 2010, it was already obtaining up to 90% of all its OEM needs from BSMI because we meet both quality and punctuality objectives consistently.

2013: PRODUCTION DIVERSIFICATION
BSMI began to produce plastic name badges for an Australian partner in 2013, further expanding production for export worldwide. High-speed sonic welding and heat transfer machines were used for assembling these products to achieve the best quality delivered to customers.

2014 – 2018: WORLD CLASS QUALITY AND CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
BSMI wanted to further improve the company’s quality of production that’s why in 2013, it began to undergo completion of requirements for ISO 9001:2008, the international standard for quality. Intertek granted BSMI its ISO 9001: 2008 Quality Management Systems certification in November 2014.
In 2017, Bay-Sports adopted the updated standard for quality (ISO 9001: 2015) and was granted a certificate on May 2018. BSMI continues to be re-certified for ISO 9001:2015 until the present year.
BSMI cares about minimizing the impact of its production on the environment that’s why in 2016, BSMI also completed the requirements for ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems and was granted certification in 2017.

2018 – PRESENT: SHIFT TO MAGNETIC TOYS PRODUCTION
Towards the end of 2018, variants of chocolate dispensers were discontinued by BSMI’s largest customer, which largely affected BSMI financially. Production of simpler chocolate dispensers started in early 2019 but was later totally discontinued due to low response from consumers.
But BSMI did not stop looking for ways and opportunities for business as it started producing high-quality magnetic toys under Private Label Agreement for an American Partner in 2018, producing up to more than 20 million pieces exported worldwide as of 2020. These toys are exported also to one of the largest retail stores in the United States and towards the last quarter of 2020, are also exported to one of the largest retail stores in Europe.

SECURITY AND RESPONSIBLE SOURCING
BSMI participated in audits for supply chain security for exported goods shipped to consumers worldwide, under Customs–Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) requirements. This is for the protection of consumers and to be ensured that the products we produce for them are secure from the factory to the place of destination.
BSMI is also audited for Responsible Sourcing under Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA 4-PILLAR) which is the widely used ethical audit format in the world that focuses as much on labor conditions and occupational safety as on environmental standards and ethical business practices.

2023 BSMI-OWNED MAGNETIC TOYS
In the last quarter of 2022, BSMI developed an idea to create its magnetic toys, gearing more toward producing affordable but high-quality educational magnetic toys for STEAM (Science, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics). Development and production began in early 2023 with the introduction of four Archimedrix ® play sets which are the Tiles, Junior Tiles, Blocks, and Frames. These toys were tested and passed the Toy Safety Requirement under EN71 and ASTM-F963.

Archimedrix ® is a brand developed by BSMI in 2017 for its own magnetic toys.
At present, BSMI has 19 Plastic Injection Machines, 1 Blister Forming Machine, 1 Blister Cutting Machine, 1 Laser Welding Machine, 7 Sonic Welding Machines, 1 Multi-Function Single Pass Box Printing Machine, 1 Shrink Foil Wrapping Machine, 2 EDM Machines, 1 Lathe Machine, 2 Drilling Machines, 2 Milling Machines, 1 Flat Surface Grinder Machine, and 60 Riveting Machines and Pneumatic Presses which were customized according to our products and specifications.
