Job Summary:
Th Plant Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment used in industrial plants and manufacturing facilities. This role ensures that all plant equipment operates efficiently and reliably to minimize downtime and improve production performance. Plant Mechanics troubleshoot mechanical problems, perform routine inspections, and carry out repairs on various machinery, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and other mechanical systems. They also work to enhance plant productivity through preventive maintenance and ensuring that safety protocols are followed during all maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on mechanical equipment, including conveyors, pumps, compressors, motors, and other machinery. This includes lubrication, parts replacement, and adjustments to ensure optimal functioning.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify faulty components, and carry out repairs to restore equipment to full functionality. Work on both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Installations and Upgrades: Install new machinery, equipment, and systems in the plant as needed. Assist in upgrading existing equipment to improve efficiency or comply with updated regulations or standards.
- Inspection and Monitoring: Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to detect wear and tear, ensuring timely repairs are made before more serious issues arise. Maintain logs and reports for ongoing inspection results.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety standards and protocols to ensure that all maintenance activities are performed safely. Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures to ensure the safety of all personnel.
- Collaboration: Work closely with plant managers, operators, and other maintenance staff to coordinate repair schedules and minimize plant downtime. Communicate effectively to resolve issues promptly.
