Job Description:
• Supervise the design, fabrication, and maintenance of molds, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in:
Plastic injection molding of frames and parts
Metal frame pressing and cutting
Lens cutting, edging, and polishing fixtures
• Implement preventive maintenance schedules for molds and tooling to maximize tool life.
• Work with suppliers and internal teams on new mold development and modification for new eyewear designs.
• Ensure tooling precision to maintain consistency in frame dimensions, fit, and durability.
• Oversee installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of production machines, such as:
Injection molding machines
CNC cutting and drilling machines
Lens surfacing, coating, and curing machines
Polishing, plating, and coloring equipment
Assembly and laser marking machines
• Develop and manage equipment calibration and maintenance programs.
• Monitor equipment performance and implement improvements to reduce downtime and extend lifespan.
• Ensure all equipment complies with safety and eyewear manufacturing standards.
Automated lens inspection using vision systems
Robotic polishing or assembly for frames
automated coating and drying systems
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual handling, improve precision, and increase throughput.
• Collaborate with R&D to design automation solutions for new product introduction (NPI).
• Stay updated with the latest Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing technologies applicable to eyewear production.
• Work with Production teams to ensure tools, equipment, and automation systems support daily operations.
• Support Supply Chain & Planning by ensuring availability of tools and spare parts.
• Implement energy-saving and cost-reduction initiatives in equipment and utilities.
• Conduct root cause analysis of recurring breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
